Ability & Safety
While
quantity is important, our operation's focus is as much, or more,
on the quality of terrain. Both owners and all our staff love exotic
lines and Valhalla is fortunate to have these in abundance. Some
of the lines we've been hitting in the past few years - and will
continue to as we discover our new area - require
strong ski/riding ability.
Your
skiing or riding skills should allow you to ski most expert trails
at ski areas in a variety of snow conditions without falling. This
is wilderness skiing which means snow conditions vary from
day-to-day and storm-to-storm. There are no
groomed runs so you must be comfortable with traversing and
skiing or riding in all types of snow including powder or its less
forgiving variations. We are looking for keen skiers and boarders
that want to ride all day long.
Fitness
is as important as ability. No matter how strong your technique,
a day of skiing our terrain can be frustrating if you are out-of-shape.
Why waste your important quality time gasping instead of grinning?
Being rested and in good physical condition for this adventure is
important for both a pleasant experience, and safe one.
Our
experienced and fully certified guides are professionals at balancing
exciting and challenging skiing with the safety and enjoyment of
the entire group.
Our friendly guides help reduce possible harm presented by the many
obstacles and dangers of wilderness skiing. They continually monitor
the weather conditions and evaluate the snow stability in an effort
to minimize hazards. You must be prepared to listen carefully and
obey their directions & cautions.
We
provide guests with all the required safety equipment and the training
to use it. Ultimately, "you"
are responsible for your own well-being and, as is standard in the
industry, signing of a waiver by all guests is required. The groups
that achieve the most vertical and overall best skiing work efficiently
and effectively as a group travelling through the backcountry.
